The Virgin Mary Church Scout in Maskana

The establishment phase and the launch of the band:

A deep dream ignited in the hearts of our youth, a dream to realize their love and enthusiasm for planting seeds of joy in people's hearts, with great support from our parish priest, Father Luke Awad, and the faithful members of our parish. The scout group bearing the name of our church was founded in 2017. The group faced many difficulties and challenges during the establishment phase, leading to a pause of a year and a half. In 2020, the group resumed with its first breakthrough, fueled by love, enthusiasm, encouragement, and support from Father Luke Awad to continue its journey. In 2021, the second troop was established, and intensive training sessions began, including daily and weekly practices, with the number of musicians reaching 50.

Participation of the band:

The band's first and most important participation was during the opening of our church and the reception of His Eminence, Mar Timotheos Matta, the shepherd of our archdiocese, during his first pastoral visit. This event motivated the band to showcase their musical skills and give their best.

The band participated in various church events, invitations, the opening of the Churches of Homs Championship, and many other engagements. Their achievements expanded to include participation in the first meeting for sharing musical experiences with the Syriac Scouts under the auspices of His Holiness Patriarch Mar Ignatius Aphrem II, and they took part in various training courses with the Syriac Scouts.

The band's activities:

The band's involvement extended beyond musical performances to constant service in the church. They prepare for every feast, decorate the church, and present new compositions. To maintain balance, the band organizes monthly activities and recreational trips with scouting themes created by their youth to foster joyful atmospheres after hard work.

The band's first scout camp was titled "Towards a Better World," where they had unforgettable experiences, learned the basics, laws, and principles of scouting, increasing the youth’s enthusiasm to learn more about scouting.

The second scout-musical camp was titled "We Are the Church's Smile and Hopes." The band enjoyed fun and challenging moments, intense preparations for their event on the church's feast day, learning scouting values, the scout promise, and various scouting skills.

Their first event, "Our Church Rises High and We Stand Before It," was a musical evening celebrating the birth of the Virgin Mary, the feast of our church. The preparations were time-consuming and demanding, yet they managed to fulfill a long-awaited dream, demonstrating their strong commitment and belonging to the church.

With each achievement, our band's determination grows stronger to pursue their dream. Their enduring motto is "We are steadfast and persistent in this dream because our beloved church has ignited a fire within us to uplift its name, and we will toil day and night for it."
