The Fourth Scout Troop in Al-Qahtaniyah was founded on November 16, 1997, through the efforts of enthusiastic youth and with the support of the leadership of the Qamishli Troop, in the presence of Bishop Matta Roham of the Diocese of Al-Jazira and Euphrates.
The troop included all scouting and musical age groups, with a membership of approximately 500 individuals. They participated in various activities, including:
1. The World Scout Gathering in Saidnaya (the Millennium Event).
2. Welcoming Patriarch Zakka I at the Iraq border.
3. Participation in the Silver Jubilee of Patriarch Zakka I.
4. Participation in Christmas carnivals held in Qamishli.
5. Organizing camps outside of Al-Hasakah Province.
Due to the Syrian crisis and the emigration of leaders, troop activities were suspended for two years. However, in 2015, through the efforts of remaining members, a new leadership was formed, focusing on reestablishing the brass band. A new brass section was created, and in 2021, a new training course was launched, with the number of musicians reaching 60 to 70 members.
Currently, the troop’s activities are limited to church events, welcoming religious figures, and opening churches in Al-Qahtaniyah.
In 2021, the brass band became part of the Syrian Syriac Scouts, which unites all Syriac scout groups in Syria. The band actively participates in all events organized by the Syrian Syriac Scouts to this day.
The current leadership is also working on establishing a Cub section, after gathering insights from the camps organized by the Syrian Syriac Scouts.
