Mar Afrem Syriac Church Ceremony Band in Adawiya

We are the ceremonial group of the Mar Ephrem Syriac Church in the Al-Adawiya neighborhood. The idea of founding our group began in 2000, and in 2002, we officially inaugurated the group in the third month. We started working on the scouting division after participating in the first scouting camp in Aleppo. Our group's membership ranges between 90 and 100 members, encompassing both musical and scouting divisions.

One of our greatest strengths is our continuity and determination to maintain training even during challenging times, particularly during the "events," as scouts are known to overcome difficulties. This sense of belonging has led us to participate in various activities such as volunteering with the United Nations, the Global Syriac Musical Gathering in Lebanon in collaboration with the Swedish association "SOSF," and national events such as the opening of the Mutribah border crossing and celebrating Police Day with the internal security forces.

Despite the difficulties we sometimes face during training, playing music during holidays remains a special event for us, especially as we bring joy to the faces of the children and families in our neighborhood. Scouting has had a significant impact on our lives, as the children of Mar Ephrem Scout Troop, we have learned how to be leaders, express ourselves, and develop our personalities to always be effective. This is most evident during camps, where the time spent on pioneering activities and campfire nights allows us to live the phrase: "Give me a rope and a stick, and I will perform miracles."

Participating in the Syrian Syriac Scout activities is one of the most enjoyable times for our group, as gathering with other troops strengthens the concept of belonging on a larger scale. We never forget the enjoyable moments of playing music. We are grateful for every meeting, as it becomes a major event that remains in the archive of the scouts.
